A Paintsville man is in jail after allegedly leading police on a chase along US 23 on a stole side-by-side. Paintsville Police and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that a man had knocked down the gate at YPK Motor Sports and fled toward US 23 on a side-by-side, just after midnight Saturday morning. Officers caught up with the vehicle on US 23 and pursued it to Williams Branch, where it veered off the road and up a hill into the forest. Police were pursuing on foot, when the vehicle turned around and headed straight for the officers. One officer stepped aside as the vehicle came toward him and used his taser on the driver, identified as Ryan Selvage, 31, of Paintsville. Selvage is now facing felony theft, fleeing police, wanton endangerment and numerous other charges.
