James Arthur Newman, age 77 of Grethel, KY, husband of Betsy Spurlock Newman, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.  He was born October 28, 1943 in Grethel, KY, a son of the late Oliver and Mildred Hamilton Newman.  He was a retired coal miner and construction work, and was and avid outdoorsman.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Boldman Freewill Baptist Church, Harold, KY, with Pastor Sonny Boyd officiating.  Burial will follow in the Kidd-Newman Cemetery, Branhams Creek, Grethel, KY, visitation is after 3 p.m. Sunday and all day Monday at the church, under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
