A man out of Pike County is facing up to 10-years in prison after he was accused of beating a woman.
This past Wednesday, state troopers were called to a home on Dix Fork, at Sidney. The victim had managed to call her friend to ask for help. Officers found the woman, who was said to have severe bruising on various parts of her body. The woman said she would only speak to officers at another location.
At one of the Pike County Sheriff’s satellite offices in Belfry, the woman told police she had been assaulted by 28-year-old Scott Stokes and that he had also strangled her while holding a gun on her. According to the woman, the attack happened on Monday and Stokes refused to let her leave afterward.
Stokes was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree. Police say that a search of his residence failed to turn up any guns.
