James “Chris” Haney, age 71 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Born January 2, 1950 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Chester and Marie Gullett Haney.

Funeral services will be held 12:00pm Friday, August 27, 2021 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Thursday and anytime prior to the service on Friday. Harry Neal Frisby will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Fishers House Foundation (fishershouse.org) or the Veterans Referral Center of Paintsville, 621 Euclid Avenue, Paintsville, Kentucky 41240. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.
