The Floyd County sheriff’s Office received a tip that a Floyd County Deputy Jailer was attempting to smuggle drugs into the Detention Center.

Upon receiving the tip, the Sheriff’s Office deployed a drug dog to sniff around the vehicle owned by 24-year-old Dustin Johnson, of Minnie. After sniffing around the vehicle, the fog indicated that there was something inside. Deputies then located Johnson, informed him of the accusations against him, and then got his permission to search his vehicle.

In the trunk of the car, deputies reportedly found a blue plastic bag which contained several bags of meth, suboxone, lyrica, and marijuana, as well as tobacco, loose cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and a cell phone with a charger.

Johnson is said to have admitted to police that he was paid $1,500 to smuggle these items to an inmate. He also admitted to doing the same thing on two separate occasions within the past two months.

Johnson was arrested and is now charged with official misconduct, four counts of drug trafficking, promoting contraband, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
