A Pike County man was arrested this past Saturday night after a chase with police.
The man reportedly told police he didn’t pull over because he figured he’d be going to jail anyways.
The Kentucky State Police received several reports that 53-year-old Steven Williamson, of Kimper, was firing a gun while driving along Kendrick Fork Road and Upper Chloe Road. Upon responding to these reports, troopers attempted to stop Williamson, who was said to have swerved around police and fled. A chase followed with speeds reaching around 80 mph. Williamson managed to evade police.
Troopers radioed the Pikeville Police, who managed to catch up to Williamson as he was exiting his vehicle at an address on Fife Fork.
Officers discovered a 9mm handgun and a bottle of Fireball Whiskey inside of Williamson’s vehicle. He also reportedly informed officers that he had been smoking marijuana.
Williamson was arrested and charged with fleeing police, felon in possession of a firearm, DUI, and numerous traffic violations.
