A woman out of Johnson County is now in jail on a murder charge following the stabbing of two people this past Tuesday night.
Deputies responded to a home on Hyden Branch after Marsha Bailey reported that 47-year-old Kristie Blair, of Oil Springs, had attacked her and Bernadetta Blackburn with a knife. Bailey continued, explaining that she and Blackburn were able to get the knife away from Blair, who they were restraining.
When deputies arrived, they discovered Blackburn lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds, including two near her neck and throat. Blackburn was unable to speak at the time and was having difficulty breathing. She later died while in the hospital.
Bailey had also been stabbed in the jaw and arm.
Bailey informed police that the fight began when Blair went to the bathroom and Blackburn went to tell her that her TV show was coming back on. The two women fought from the bathroom into the living room, where Blair was restrained.
Blair is said to have reportedly told a doctor that Blackbrun attempted to strike her when she came to the bathroom, prompting Blair to grab a knife and begin stabbing her.
Blair is now charged with murder and first-degree assault.
