This past Monday, a Pikeville man was convicted by a federal judge of wire fraud and healthcare fraud.

The decision came following a 5-day-long trial and was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office. The jury convicted 36-year-old Eugene Sisco III on one count of wire fraud and one count of healthcare fraud.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Sisco collected money from his clients, claiming that he was not enrolled in the Medicaid program. He had been charging them between $200 and $300 a month.

After charging those people, he would continue to collect those charges while getting reimbursements from Medicaid. The evidence showed that collectively, Sisco had gotten around $5 million from these practices.
