A man out of Letcher County has recently entered a guilty plea in a federal drug trafficking case.

43-year-old Larry Wayne Bentley, of McRoberts, pleaded guilty this past Monday to conspiracy to distribute meth and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. Bentley admitted that he had purchased pounds of meth from a supplier out of Louisville, then distributed it throughout Letcher County.

When officers raided the man’s home, they recovered three pounds of meth, along with over $14,000 in cash, and three firearms. Bentley later admitted that the $10,000 he used to post bail was also drug money.

He now faces a minimum sentence of 10 years.

A second man who was charged in this case, 43-year-old Bryan Wayne Branham, is scheduled to go to trial in January of 2022.
