A suspect has been arrested following the robbery of the Big Stone Gap Quality Inn.

 

Officials with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating the case after an armed robber is said to have walked into the lobby of the business, demanding money.

 

The robber is then said to have fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.

 

Investigators identified 41-year-old Byron Newsome, of Coeburn, as a suspect. He was tracked to Canton, North Carolina, where he was arrested on Wednesday.

 

Newsome is now awaiting extradition back to Wise County.
