A former teacher out of Letcher County has been sentenced to over 30-years in prison on federal charges of child porn and cyberstalking.

A jury found 49-year-old Charles Evans Hall, of Jackhorn, guilty of both charges, dating back to October of last year.

Evidence presented to that jury showed that Hall had groomed a female student into sending him sexually charged messages over Snapchat. The victim is said to have testified that Hall engaged in criminal sexual activity with her while he was working a food booth at the 2018 Mountain Heritage Festival.

He was additionally found guilty of attempting to intimidate the girl into destroying evidence, going so far as to send other people as a way of trying to force her to recant.

Hall was sentenced this past Tuesday to 370 months in prison.
