Floyd County woman booked into Pike County Detention Center on narcotics charge

arrest-7

After allegedly attempting to sneak drugs into the Pike County Detention Center, a Floyd County woman is facing felony charges.

Officer Daniel Fields of the Pikeville Police Department arrested Lawshawna Wesley, 33, of Shop Branch Road in Stanville, at the Fairview Apartment Complex on charges of public intoxication and providing a false identifying information to a police officer.

A deputy jailer discovered a bag in a pocket inside Wesley’s purse containing a material thought to be methamphetamine, according to Fields.

Jail authorities did a full body strip search and discovered a bag of a substance believed to be methamphetamine in a body cavity.

Wesley was arrested for public intoxication, providing a false identifying information to an officer, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and first-degree promoting contraband.
