A Floyd County man, who is currently awaiting trial for murder, will spend at least five years in prison after he plead guilty to a federal gun charge.
46-year-old Wesley Glenn Martin, of Wayland, was arrested in 2019 after officials discovered the body of 26-year-old Jordan Tackett buried in a shallow grave on Martin’s property. He was charged for murder in that case and his trial is set to begin on August 22nd.
At the time of the arrest, officers found two sawn-off shotguns in his possession, in spite of his conviction for assault and wanton endangerment in Knott County from 2012. An additional charge of felon in possession of a firearm was given, and in Pikeville federal court, he was sentenced to 69-months in prison on Monday.
