A couple out of Pikeville was arrested after they let their pit bull attack another dog and its owner, according to police.
35-year-old William Leeper and 47-year-old Jonda Collins, both of Poplar Street, were reportedly walking with their dog along Kentucky Avenue around 2:30 PM on Wednesday. It was there that the dog attacked another smaller dog. When the owner of the smaller dog attempted to stop the pit bull, it attacked her, biting her in the hand.
Court records are unclear as to whether or not the smaller dog survived the attack.
Leeper is said to have ran from the scene, later informing police that he was trying to get to home incarceration, as he has a current indictment on a robbery charge.
Both Leeper and Collins were arrested and charged with harboring a vicious animal, permitting a vicious dog to run at large, assault, wanton endangerment, and disorderly conduct. Leeper was additionally charged with fleeing police.
Animal Control took custody of the pit bull.
