add-a-heading-2-2

A man out of Virginia was arrested on several charges on March 3rd following a traffic stop in Pikeville.

Pikeville Police officer Patrick Coleman conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Mercedes-Benz ML430, in which the registration plate had been reported stolen.

As Coleman approached the vehicle the driver, who is identified as Shawn David Justus, 34, of Grundy, Virgina, appeared to be extremely nervous.

Justus and a female passenger were both instructed to put their hands on the dashboard of the vehicle, Justus refused.

Coleman wrote that he then asked Justus to step out of the vehicle when Justus stated “Sir, you can search me, I don’t have anything on me.”

During the search of Justus, Coleman found a large amount of cash.

Coleman then asked Justus if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, to which he responded, “I’m not going to lie to you, yes there is and you can search.”

Coleman wrote that while searching the vehicle, he located a cigarette container which had individual baggies of a crystal like substance. In addition, Coleman also found two sets of scales in working condition.

Justus was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, theft of a motor vehicle registration plate, fugitive from another state and traffic charges.
