A man out of Letcher County has been sentenced to 25-years in prison following a federal gun and drug case.

44-year-old Larry Wayne Bentley, of McRoberts, initially pleaded guilty back in December to charges of conspiracy to distribute meth and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Bentley admitted he bought pounds of meth from a supplier out of Louisville, then sold it in Letcher County.

During a search of his home, officers found three pounds of meth alongside over $14,000 in cash and three guns. He also admitted that the $10,000 he used to post bail was also drug money.

On Monday, a judge sentenced him to 20-years for the conspiracy charge and an additional five-years on the gun charge.

A second individual who was charged in this case, 44-year-old Bryan Wayne Branham, of McRoberts, pleaded guilty to assisting Bentley during a drug sale – on one occasion. He will face sentencing in May.
