A man out of Floyd County was arrested on warrants out of several counties after police were informed that he had been sitting in a Pikeville gas station parking lot for an extended amount of time.
Just after 1:30 AM on Wednesday, an officer with the Pikeville Police Department was informed about a man who had been sitting in his car for several hours without getting out. The officer confronted the man, who informed the officer that he was there waiting on his sister, but refused to provide his name.
Officers were able to identify the man using social media and drivers license records. 41-year-old Bryan Bentley, of Grethel, was wanted on several warrants out of Floyd, Letcher, and Wise Counties.
Bentley refused to follow commands to exit his vehicle, then appeared to be reaching for something in his center console. Officers later discovered a knife in that spot. Bentley was eventually arrested after police smashed-out his window to get into the vehicle. Officers reported that he had tied the seat belt to the inside of the door handle in an attempt to prevent officers from opening the door.
In addition to the warrants, Bentley is now also charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
