A Pike County man, who was sentenced last week on federal fraud charges, recently notified the court of his intentions to appeal the conviction.

In November of last year, a jury found 36-year-old Eugene Sisco III guilty of both wire fraud and healthcare fraud.

The jury determined that Sisco had improperly billed Medicaid patients at his drug treatment centers – up to $300 a month – despite Medicaid also paying for that same treatment. The jury also found that Sisco had ordered thousands of unnecessary drug tests.

This past week, Sisco was sentenced to 10-years in prison along with being ordered to forfeit $3.2 million as well as having to pay $5.6 million in restitution fees.
