The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to Ky. Rt. 201 in the Sitka community on Monday, March 28th, 2022, at about 3:30 p.m., regarding a male and a bicycle lying beside the road. The male was seen pushing his bicycle down the side of the highway and was quite unstable on his feet when the deputies arrived in the area.

Deputies walked out with the individual to make sure he was okay and saw he appeared to be inebriated. When asked for identification, the man gave his name, but stated he didn’t know his birthday or social security number. The name provided came back with an active warrant when the information was processed through the system.

When the man learned that the name he gave had an outstanding warrant, he admitted to lying to deputies and indicated that he did not want to be detained on a warrant that was not his. Deputies were able to identify the man as Ricky Castle, 52, of Sitka, Kentucky, after he supplied an identification card. Mr. Castle was then checked through the system and discovered to be the subject of an active arrest warrant.

Mr. Castle was subsequently placed under arrest, and deputies recovered methamphetamine, Suboxone, hypodermic syringes, and a glass light bulb used for smoking methamphetamine in his pockets after searching him.

Mr. Castle was charged with Public Intoxication (excluding alcohol), Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to appear. He was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
