Two individuals were arrested on Wednesday in Pikeville following a traffic stop.

After stopping, the officer noticed that the driver of the vehicle had a blood-soaked t-shirt wrapped around her arm. She then informed the officer she had been stabbed during an altercation on Wolford Street.

Soon after, officers found the man who she claimed had stabbed her, 26-year-old William Williams. Williams informed police that the victim attempted to hit him while he was holding the knife and that may be how she was injured. He also informed police that he became scared and threw the knife into the Pikeville Pond.

Williams was charged with second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.

Officers noticed an additional passenger sitting in the back seat of the car. 26-year-old Charles Blankenship was found to be in possession of meth and a firearm – which he allegedly tried to hide from police.

Blankenship was arrested and charged with meth possession and felon in possession of a handgun.
