Pike County man arrested after shooting son multiple times

After reportedly shooting his son numerous times during a domestic altercation, a Pike man is facing felony assault charges.

According to an affidavit for a search warrant issued by Kentucky State Police Det. Joshua Scott, on March 30, Larry Harris, 61, of Abner Fork Road, Belcher, was drinking with his son. Harris informed officers that his son began arguing with him, at which point he admitted to shooting at his son numerous times, including when he was attempting to flee.

Harris shot his son approximately six times, according to Scott’s affidavit, his son was bleeding from his head and body when authorities arrived.

Harris told authorities he was “tired of being beat and cussed at,” according to the affidavit.  Harris admitted to using a .22 caliber revolver and refusing to give his son first aid.

Harris was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree assault (domestic violence). He pleaded not guilty to the charge before Pike District Judge Tommy May on March 31, according to court records, and was held on a $10,000 cash bond.
