Two Teenagers Arrested After Bringing Gun Onto School Bus

arrest-2

Two teenagers were arrested on Wednesday morning after entering a school bus with a gun for a planned school-shooting.

According to officials with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a conversation about the gun is said to have started on the bus. A student who attends Ripley Middle School pulled out the firearm shortly after. Another student is said to have grabbed the magazine, reporting to the driver that a student brought a gun onboard.

Authorities were contacted and the bus was parked at Evans Elementary School while officers responded. They managed to safely remove the children from the bus, also securing the firearm, magazine, and additional ammunition.

An investigation uncovered the handgun had been stolen by the teenager’s older brother, who is 16-years-old. The juvenile accused of bringing the gun onto the bus is said to have had at least one intended target.
