Blue Highway Fest, a Bluegrass & Roots music festival with the finest talent lineup anywhere for the 2022 festival season, is coming this fall to Bullitt Park in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, October 7-8.
Blue Highway Fest will kick off at 6 p.m. (EST) on October 6 with a special event at Mountain Empire Community College featuring internationally acclaimed guitarist Tommy Emmanuel C.G.P. The festival came about through the collaborative efforts of Grammy-nominated and IBMA award winners Blue Highway, Big Stone Gap Town Manager Stephen Lawson, Big Stone Gap native George Roat, and Wise County native Larry V. Roberts.
“Our vision is to have a Bluegrass & Roots music festival in the fall of each year with the best talent lineup anywhere,” said Roberts. “We want to draw a local, regional and national audience to Big Stone Gap, to showcase the cultural history and beauty of Southwest Virginia/Western North Carolina/East Tennessee/Eastern Kentucky and have a positive economic impact on the region.” “We’re so excited this is finally happening. We’ve been meeting every week to iron out all the details. The entire town of Big Stone Gap is on board and counting down the days until the festival. They’re a great partner, and the town deserves a great festival – and with this incredible lineup, they’re certainly going to get that”, said Tim Stafford, founding member of Blue Highway.
