Wolfe County Search & Rescue responded to a call on Monday night concerning two canoers who failed to return when they were supposed to. The Kentucky State Police were also called upon to assist with an aerial search, which began close to 3:00 AM on Tuesday.

 

The search is said to have been delayed until 9:00 AM due to incoming fog.

 

The missing people were eventually located in a drainage area, around 6-miles upstream from the intended end of their trip.

 

After forming a rescue plan, team members managed to successfully remove the missing canoers from the area. One of the individuals received medical attention on-site while the other was flown-out for more serious medical attention.
