Deputies in Madison County are currently investigating a shooting that took place Thursday morning in the 1000 block of Mule Shed Lane. The initial call concerned an ongoing domestic situation.
The incident is said to have begun with Tommy Edington going to the home of his estranged wife, who had a protective order against him, armed with a shotgun.
According to officials with the Sheriff’s Department, Amanda Edington was inside the home with her son, James Spicer, and a friend, Hogan Rose.
Amanda is said to have seen her husband walking up to the house with the gun. She and the other two men then barricaded themselves inside of the bathroom of the master bedroom.
Tommy Edington is said to have kicked open the door of the home, then fired into the master bedroom’s door. Hogan is said to have then walked into the master bedroom, then began firing back. Both Rose and Edington are said to have sustained gunshot wounds.
While the husband was reloading his gun, Spicer and Hogan managed to escape the home. As Amanda attempted to escape, Tommy is said to have grabbed her. He then proceeded to barricade the two of them inside of a room within the home.
When officers arrived on the scene, Tommy allegedly surrendered without incident. Amanda was unharmed.
Rose was treated at Baptist Health Richmond.
Tommy Edington was transported to UK Hospital. His condition is currently unknown, but his injuries are said to have been NOT life-threatening. The sheriff’s department says he will face charges of attempted murder, burglary, violation of a Kentucky EPO/DV, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
