A man out of Knott County is now facing charges of drug trafficking and child endangerment after he allegedly went shopping in Pikeville while under the influence of drugs, with two children in his care.
Officers were called to the Pikeville Commons shopping center after a witness reported seeing a possibly intoxicated man leave two children unattended in a vehicle. Upon their arrival, police found no one in the car. Soon after, 22-year-old Andrew Hall, of Dema, arrived at the vehicle with a 5-year-old and 2-month-old baby.
Officials then learned of the five active warrants for Hall’s arrest. After taking him into custody, officers discovered Hall to be in possession of meth, heroin, marijuana, and an unknown powder alongside cash and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with child endangerment, trafficking in meth and heroin, and drug possession.
Soon after, police found the children’s mother, 21-year-old Alyssa Slone, just a few shops away. Officers say she too appeared to be under the influence. She also allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana and snorting hydrocodone earlier.
She was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
