Doctor And Nurse Named In 50-Count Indictment

A doctor and nurse out of Pikeville are currently being indicted in federal court on charges that claim they conspired to improperly provide drugs to their patients.

 

Dr. Crystal Compton and Kayla Lambert were both named in a  50-count indictment released on Thursday. Dr. Compton was associated with Eastern Kentucky Medical Group, Betsy Layne Primary Care, and The Good Doctor. Lambert was a nurse working at her practices.

 

Both individuals have been charged with conspiracy to unlawfully distribute drugs and conspiracy to use the DEA registration of another individual.

 

Lambert is additionally charged with four-counts of actually using the DEA registration, while Dr. Compton faces 44-counts of unlawfully distributing drugs, such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, and methadone.

 

The DEA violations carry potential 4-year-prison sentences while the drug distribution charges have varying maximum sentences of between five to twenty years, depending on the type of drug.

 

Prosecutors are also seeking to have them forfeit their licenses in addition to money in equal amount to the gross proceeds received from their alleged crimes.
