A woman out of Mingo County was recently indicted after being accused of keeping Social Security benefits being paid to a dead relative of hers over a period of four years.

Diana Cisco is charged with stealing Social Security benefits and lying to investigators.

The relative in question is said to have began receiving survivor’s benefits in 1992, later passing away in 2016. Instead of reporting the death to Social Security, Cisco is accused of keeping the money for herself until the mistake was discovered in 2020.

Investigators attempted to question her in March of this year, but she informed them that she was with her sister.

Cisco is accused of stealing over $46,000 from the alleged scheme.

She will answer for the charges later this week in the U.S. District Courthouse in Charleston.
