A mother out of Eastern Kentucky stands accused of burning the feet of her child as punishment for misbehaving.

 

Deputies with the Owsley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on the 16th of April, where they began an investigation into the possible abuse of a 4-year-old. During the investigation, officers discovered the child had 2nd and 3rd-degree burns on the bottoms of both feet, which is apart of the alleged punishment that was not made clear.

 

Officials say the child was transported to UK Children’s Hospital and then to an Ohio burn center, where they have remained. The child’s current condition is unknown.

 

28-year-old Alexis Powell, of Bonneville, was arrested and taken to the Three Forks Regional Jail on charges of assault, criminal abuse, endangering the welfare of a minor, and wanton endangerment.
