Two Dead Following Three-Vehicle Collision

Kentucky State Police Officials in Harlan received a 911 call concerning a three-vehicle collision on US-25-E, in the Bimble Community of Knox county. The crash is said to have happened close to 12:00 AM on Sunday.

 

Troopers found that 23-year-old Fredrick Cody Carnes, of Pineville, was operating a 2001 green Toyota Tacoma while traveling north in the southbound lanes. A head-on collision occurred with a white 2018 Dodge Charger being driven by a 16-year-old from Girdler. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner. The passenger of the charger, a 17-year-old female, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for her injuries. Her condition is currently unknown.

 

A third vehicle, a blue 2001 Chevrolet S10 being driven by 41-year-old Steven Cox. He was said to have also been driving in the southbound lane. His car was struck by the charger in an attempt to avoid collision. Cox is said to have been unharmed from the crash.

 

This incident is under investigation by Detective Jake Middleton. The Kentucky State Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to have been involved in this crash.
