Shannon Gilday, the man who police claim killed Jordan Morgan after he broke into her father’s home in February, was not allowed to change his plea in court on Monday.

The current allegations position Gilday as having targeted the home for its doomsday bunker. He allegedly wanted control of this bunker for fear of an impending nuclear attack.

Gilday’s attorney, Tom Griffiths, had planned to enter a plea of being guilty but also being mentally handicapped. In the hearing on Monday, prosecutors demanded proof that Gilday was actually mentally ill before allowing him to change his plea. Griffiths claims the proof is already present.

The judge entered a not-guilty plea for Gilday.

He will next be in court on July 22nd.
