
A pediatrician out of Louisville was recently arrested on federal charges after she allegedly tried to hire someone to kill her ex-husband.
52-year-old Stephanie Russell, of Louisville, holds a practice at Kidzlife Pediatrics in Norton Commons. She was taken into custody by the FBI on May 19th.
Russell is said to have made contact with the person she believed she was hiring to kill her ex-husband. That person was actually an undercover FBI agent.
She allegedly agreed to pay a total of $7,000 for the murder. She is also said to have left half of that amount in a drop box outside of her medical office on May 18th. She had allegedly agreed to pay the other half after the murder took place.
According to court records, Russell and her ex-husband have been in a custody battle over their children for the past two years. Russell was also accused of attempting to hire a hitman to kill her ex-husband in 2018
A preliminary hearing is set for May 24th. If convicted, she could face a potential 10-year prison sentence.
