Spring Valley High School Student Arrested On Sexual Assault Charges

arrest-7

A Spring Valley High School student was recently arrested on charges of 2nd degree sexual assault.

18-year-old Joshua Tackett is accused of sexually assaulting another student on the school’s campus, during school hours.

A deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, who was working as a human resource officer, is said to have noticed a female student crying in the hallway. When he approached her to ask what was wrong, she told him she needed to talk to someone about being raped.

According to the student, on March 14th, Tackett asked her to follow him to the choir room, where he is said to have unlocked the auditorium after taking the keys from the teacher’s desk. The victim was informed by Tackett that they were going to have sex. She told him no.

After Tackett had sex with the victim, he informed her not to tell anyone with the threat that he would have another female student beat her up. The same thing is said to have happened on March 24th, according to the victim.

Tackett was arrested, but is now out on bond. He also waived his preliminary hearing.

This investigation is ongoing.
