A man was shot and killed by authorities on Thursday after he is said to have fired rounds into traffic along I-79.

 

Deputy Mike Coffman is also said to have been injured during the altercation, having been shot in the thigh.

 

The northbound lanes of traffic were shut down. They have since reopened, but delays are expected as crews work to gather evidence at the scene of the incident.

 

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police are handling this investigation.
