Man Arrested Following Assault On Deputy

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Officials confirmed the arrest of a man who was charged with assault on a deputy.

 

A deputy noticed a vehicle traveling with only one headlight on US 27 North. The deputy followed the vehicle and observed the river run a red light. A traffic stop was initiated on US 27, near the Mighty Dollar.

 

The vehicle is said to have had two occupants; the driver. 45-year-old Brian M. Combs was traveling with his son, 25-year-old Austin Combs.

 

During the course of the stop, Brian Combs is said to have started a foot-chase with the officer. The deputy claims to have used their taser, but later claimed he didn’t think the taser actually made contact with Combs.

 

The deputy attempted to take Combs to the ground, but the man managed to get on top of the deputy, pinning his arms and holding onto his neck in the process, according to a witness.

 

The identity of the witness was not released, but that individual is said to have assisted the deputy with getting Combs under control.

 

The deputy was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, and was later released.

 

Brian Combs was arrested and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center on numerous charges, including assaulting a police officer.

 

This incident remains under investigation.
