Three people were left severely injured following a crash that involved four-vehicles in Campbell County this past Saturday.
A preliminary report indicates that around 2:05 PM on July 16th. 52-year-old Tawanna McCartney, of Jacksboro was driving a Ford while 59-year-old Thomas Sturm, of Hamilton, Ohio, was driving a Jeep west on RT 63 near Old Middlesboro Road. Officials say that both vehicles came to a stop due to congestion.
McCartney is said to have spotted another Jeep, being driven by 40-year-old Johnathan Marcum, of Middlesboro, approaching at a rapid pace. According to officials, McCartney is said to have pulled forward in an effort to avoid collision, striking the trailer Stern was pulling in the process. Marcum hit Strum’s trailer also, and the impact of the crash sent his vehicle into oncoming traffic where his vehicle struck a Chevy being driven by 51-year-old Estill Alford, of Speedwell, Tennessee.
Marcum, Alford, and a child in Alford’s vehicle, were all severely injured.
Every individual in every vehicle is said to have been wearing their seatbelts. There are no pending charges at this time.
