Thousands of people in Eastern Kentucky were left without power after the historic flood that hit theregion on July 28th

Kentucky Power gave an update Wednesday on efforts to restore power to the region. Officials said, in a release, that close to 78% of customers have gotten power back, with more than 18,000 customers having their power restored and around 5,000 remaining without power.

Kentucky Power officials said they hope to have the systems main lines fixed by Wednesday night and the majority of power restored by Friday night.
