A man out of Lawrence County is now in jail and his wife is in the hospital, following a shooting that took place early Friday morning.

 

Police were called to a residence on Rockcastle Lane over a reported shooting.

 

39-year-old Kelly Fletcher told officers she was in an argument with her husband, 43-year-old Herbert Fletcher, when he had threatened to shoot her, and then followed up on his threat.

 

Kelly is said to have sustained a serious gunshot wound to her upper-left torso. She was initially taken to Three Rivers Medical Center, later being transferred to Pikeville Medical Center.

 

Herbert was arrested on a felony charge of first-degree assault. He is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
