A man out of Pike County who is currently serving a 10-year-sentence for federal fraud charges, is now attempting to stop the government from seizing his home and other properties.

36-year-old Eugene Sisco III was found guilty of wire fraud and healthcare fraud in November of last year. The jury in that case determined that Sisco had billed Medicaid patients throughout his drug treatment clinics for services that were actually already paid for by Medicaid. It was also determined that he forced them to undergo medically unnecessary urine tests.

Part of Sisco’s sentence demanded he forfeit $3.2 million to the government. Nine months later, however, he has yet to make a single payment. Prosecutors filed a motion last month seeking to take his home in addition to four other properties, which will include lab equipment and a Corvette, which will apply towards the amount owed.

Sisco feels that the seizure of his properties is premature since the payments are still being negotiated and his case is under appeal. His counter-recommendation made the suggestion that the assets be frozen so that they will be available later, if needed.

A judge will make a ruling on the matter at a later date.
