According to a statement that was released on Sunday, Charleston Police Department Officials say a man was shot and killed by police on Saturday night.

 

At around 10:00 PM, police were called to the 100 Block of East Point Drive for a wanted person. The officers managed to learn that the suspect had fled home, towards the wood line.

 

A K-9 unit was deployed to help catch the suspect. The suspect is said to have taken out a gun and shot the dog, killing it.

 

Officers were nearby when the shot went off. They proceeded to return gunfire, striking the suspect.

 

The suspect was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
