Man Arrested On Second-Degree Assault Charge

A man out of Pike County was recently arrested on a felony assault charge following accusations that he severely beat his girlfriend on two different occasions.

 

25-year-old John Collins, of Red Creek Road, was arrested on Tuesday on a charge of second-degree assault.

 

He stands accused of beating his girlfriend with a two-by-four piece of lumber and a crowbar on August 23rd and again on August 26th. The victim is said to have sustained cuts, scratches, large bruises, and two black eyes.

 

Second-degree assault carries a potential prison sentence of between 5-10 years.

 

Collins is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
