arrest-7

This past Friday, an officer with the Pikeville Police spotted 22-year-old Jacob Vanover, of Pikeville, sitting in the passenger seat of a car- parked at a gas station. The officer recognized that Vanover was wanted on several warrants.

The officer approached the vehicle, asking Vanover to step out, informing him that he was under arrest. However, Vanover instead locked the door and then instructed the driver, 20-year-old Isabelle Lewis, of Lexington, to drive away. Lewis is said to have started the vehicle, but stopped short of driving away when the officer pulled out his taser.

It was then that Vanover told the driver to switch seats with him. The officer managed to fire his taser through a crack in the window. Vanover is said to have grabbed the taser while attempting to pull it through the window, which prompted the officer to pull his gun.

Vanover is said to have put the car into reverse, backing into a pole. Lewis then exited the vehicle while Vanoverr drove away on Cowpen Road.

Lewis attempted to run, but was quickly apprehended. She was arrested and booked on misdemeanor charges of fleeing police and for hindering prosecution and arrest in addition to a felony charge of promoting contraband after jail staff allegedly found meth within her bra.

Vanover currently remains at large. Anyone with any information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact Pikeville Police at 606-437-5111.
