Law Enforcement were on the scene in Paintsville at an active shooter situation that occurred earlier today.

The suspect has been apprehended. Officials said the suspect was injured and taken to Paintsville ARH. At this time, his condition is unknown.

The Johnson County Coroner’s office confirmed that three people were killed in the shooting. The victims identities have not been released.

The Paintsville Independent Schools announced on Facebook, every school in the system were placed under lockdown during the situation, based on the sheriff’s recommendation.

Paintsville Independent Schools officials, at 12:15, said the lockdown has been lifted.

Police are still on scene close to Broadway Street, with Depot Street closed.

Kentucky State Police are investigating.
