A man out of Wise County was recently sentenced to 30-years in prison for sexual crimes committed against a child.

31-year-old Christopher Davis Crowder, of Big Stone Gap, pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent liberties with a minor and one count of aggravated sexual battery. He was sentenced to 10-years in prison for each charge.

According to prosecutors, Crowder took calculated steps to place himself in a position to molest his victim. The mother of the child was an alleged family friend who allowed Crowder to take her son to sports practices in addition to letting him stay at his house with other children to play video games.

Crowder currently remains in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail at Duffield.
