Two Arrested Following Chase With Police

Two individuals are now in jail after leading police on a chase through Pike County, early Sunday morning.

 

An officer with the Pikeville Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a pickup truck being driven by 45-year-old Walter Moore Jr., of Grethel. For expired tags and allegedly running a stop sign.

 

Instead of stopping, however, the truck sped away through Hurricane Creek before becoming stuck in the mud on Davis Road.

 

As the officer approached the vehicle, Moore allegedly continued to attempt to free it from the mud. The officer proceeded to break the truck’s window and used his tase on both Moore and a passenger, identified as 36-year-old Levi Tackett, of Grethel.

 

Within the vehicle, police uncovered meth, glass pipes, and two firearms.

 

Moore was arrested and charged with fleeing police, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and several other charges. Tackett was also arrested and charged with resisting arrest and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

 

Both individuals are currently being held in the Pike County Jail.
