An update from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department:

 

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Knox County Deputy Jesse Smith conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for canceled tags on Highway 1232.  Upon contact with the driver, 39-year-old Darrell Eversole of Knox County, the deputy states he appeared to be nervous and moving around. 

 

Eversole was asked to exit the vehicle and while doing so laid a loaded M & P Smith and Wesson in the driver’s seat.  

 

Eversole was determined to be a convicted felon.

 

After consent to search the vehicle Eversole was driving was given, Deputy Smith assisted by Corbin Police Detective Robbie Hodge and Sgt. Jeff Hill located black bag under a back seat containing a large amount of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin, digital scales, brass knuckles, and ammunition.  Also found in the center console were Fentanyl pills.

 

Darrel Eversole was taken into custody, lodged in the Knox County Detention Center, and charged with 2 counts of trafficking in controlled substance – 1st degree, 1st offense – less than 4 grams (Cocaine), 2 counts of trafficking controlled substance – 1st degree, 2nd offense greater than 2 grams (Methamphetamine), trafficking in controlled substance – 1st offense (Heroin), trafficking in controlled substance – 1st offense (Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, no insurance, and no registration plates.

 

He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
