A Dozen People Arrested In Major Theft Case, Others Arrested On Warrants, One Wanted By U.S. Marshals Service

An update from the Cumberland Police Department:

 

Saturday October 15th, 2022 Cumberland Police Department (with the assistance of John Teagle with the Harlan County Sheriff’s Department) conducted a round-up to arrest several suspects involved in a major theft case and to serve other individuals with outstanding warrants. 

 

Twelve (12) total individuals were arrested including one wanted by the U.S Marshals.

 

Following up on a Burglary that was reported on October 3rd, 2022 on School Road in New York Section of Cumberland Kentucky, Cumberland Police Department has charged a group of nine (9) suspects for their role in that burglary as follows-the following 6 have been arrested so far and charged:

 

43-year-old April York of Cumberland was arrested and charged with

receiving stolen property $1,000<$10,000 Engaging in Organized Crime

 

46-year-old Wendy Varner of Cumberland was arrested and charged with

receiving stolen property $1,000<$10,000 Engaging in Organized Crime

 

37-year-old Crystal Jones of Cumberland was arrested and charged with

receiving stolen property $1,000<$10,000 Engaging in Organized Crime

 

41-year-old Edgar White of Cumberland was arrested and charged with

receiving stolen property $1,000<$10,000 Engaging in Organized Crime

 

28-year-old Marlana Lewis of Cumberland was arrested and charged with

receiving stolen property $1,000<$10,000 Engaging in Organized Crime

 

40-year-old Jeremy Creech of Cumberland was arrested and charged with

receiving stolen property $1,000<$10,000 Engaging in Organized Crime

 

During the round-up two (2) other individuals were arrested for outstanding felony indictment warrants for their arrest.

 

56-year-old Ventris Browning of Cumberland was arrested on an indictment warrant

35-year-old Edward Reese of Cumberland was arrested on an indictment warrant

 

One individual was arrested and charged as an out of state fugitive wanted by the U.S Marshall’s on sex offender registration crimes.

 

47-year-old Champ Skaggs of Big Stone Gap Virginia was arrested and charged with (out-of-state) Fugitive

 

Five individuals were arrested for warrants for traffic violations and one sustained a new charge

 

24-year-old Devin Medford of Cumberland was arrested for traffic related warrants

 

40-year-old Jimmy Anderson of Cumberland was arrested for traffic related warrants

 

46-year-old Edward Maggard of Cumberland was arrested and charged for a Failure to appear warrant

 

20-year-old James Brown of Cumberland was arrested and charged with a Failure to appear warrant

 

39-year-old Brian Bernardo of Cumberland was arrested on two bench warrants and was charged with Possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree
