
A school district in Southern Kentucky is currently investigating a situation involving a student reportedly bringing a gun into a high school.
Officials with Whitley County Schools said a 17-year-old Whitley County High School student was arrested this morning, for bringing an unloaded handgun into the school.
Officials also said another student informed a school resource official and school administration about the situation. They discovered the handgun the student’s backpack, but no ammunition was found.
No threats were made against other students or staff at any time during the accident, according to district staff.
In a statement released by the district, criminal charges will be brought along with school disciplinary measures.
