Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday night found the body of 35-year-old Amber Compton, inside her home on Sunset Hollow Road in Vansant. Law enforcement say she was shot several times. It’s reported that when she died, she was 7 months pregnant.

Deputies managed to gather enough information during the investigation to lead them to the suspect, Compton’s boyfriend, 38-year-old Dustin Owens, of Vansant.

Police took Owens into custody at his home on Deer Trail Drive in Vansant on a murder charge. Owen has been lodged in the Southwest Virginia Region Jail Authority Facility in Hasyi without bond.
