A man out of Martin County was charged with attacking a deputy who was attempting to arrest him. 

A deputy went to the home of 47-year-old Christopher Marcum, on Bowling Lane, in Inez- for not showing up in court for a charge of meth possession. 

Marcum was discovered within his home, hiding under a blanket. The deputy placed him under arrest, but Marcum refused to walk to the police cruiser. As he was being taken to the cruiser, he allegedly bit the deputy on his arm. He then kicked the deputy in the leg before informing him that he was HIV positive. 

In addition to a charge of meth possession, Marcum is now facing charges of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
